Ampetronic and Listening Technologies are world leaders in the design and development of assistive listening technologies that improve the quality of life for people who experience hearing loss.
Auracast™ is a new Bluetooth feature that offers an incredible listening experience for both general and assistive applications. Auri is the first Auracast™ broadcast solution for assistive listening. The Auri™ TX2N Transmitter can transmit to an unlimited number of receivers. It’s perfect for public spaces like tour systems, lecture halls, and conference centres.
Optima have been collaborating with UK based Ampetronic for several years and were tasked with designing a new transmitter to be part of the suite of products in the Auri™ system. The brief was to create a sleek, modern looking unit that delivered both on functionality and ease of installation.
The starting point for the project was to create multiple concept sketches, models and renderings that could be used as the foundation of the development of the unit. The chosen design was then developed, working with the Ampetronic electronics team to ensure the placement of the PCB and multiple interface ports were optimised.
After development of the device in CAD, initial prototypes were produced to help perfect the design. As the product developed further, production standard prototypes were built for feedback and testing. The final prototype is also used to give a high degree of confidence prior to full scale manufacture. Throughout the development process we used DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) to optimise the design for moulding, ease of assembly and reduction of part count to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising the product.
The final product is a sleek, low-profile transmitter resembling a WiFi access point that has a multi-functional mounting bracket that offers for ceiling or wall installation.
The product has already won multiple industry awards at ISE 2025, and is shortlisted for the 2025 Inavate Awards.
